The latest in a series of monolithic-microwave-integrated-circuit (MMIC) amplifiers from MicroWave Technology leverages advanced AlGaAs/InGaAs pseudomorphic-high-electron-mobility-transistor (pHEMT) technology to provide frequency coverage to 50 GHz. Model MMA-005022 is a driver amplifier that achieves 16-dB gain from 30 kHz to 50 GHz and is well suited for commercial and military broadband communications and test systems. It maintains gain flatness within a 2-dB window across that wide frequency range. The MMIC chip amplifier delivers +20 dBm output power at 1-dB compression at 30 GHz, with saturated output power of typically +22 dBm at the same test frequency. The broadband traveling-wave amplifier, with input and output ports matched to 50 Ohms, draws 200 mA current from a +7 VDC supply.
