Connectors/Adapters Tolerate Misalignments

Molex will be at the 2012 IMS displaying the fruits of its collaboration with Radiall, Inc.: its cost-effective SMP-MAX series of RF interconnections and adapters for board-to-board, module-to-module and panel-to-panel telecommunications applications. Visitors to booth No. 515 can see why these are among the fastest-growing connectors and adapters: because of their tolerance of misalignments. As Roger Kauffman, the company's Marketing/Sales Manager for RF Products, notes: "We've grown the SMP-MAX connector family substantially with over 80 specific designs, which were developed over the past 18-month period. As with the all of our Molex SMP-MAX connectors, the new products offer the largest misalignment tolerance in the industry for simple and reliable connections even in blind-mate applications."

SMP-MAX connectors can accommodate a board-to-board distance tolerance of more than 2.00 mm (0.078 in.) without a spring. They also offer a 3-deg. tilt (radial travel) and frequency range of DC to 6 GHz, and can handle 300 W power at 2.7 GHz.
