Amp Module Boosts S- And C-Band Signals

May 15, 2013
A rugged 50-W amplifier module is designed to boost QAM signals at S- and C-band frequencies.

Model BME2969-50DL is a power amplifier module designed for use in S- and C-band data links. Ideal for airborne and shipboard applications, notably in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) tasked with transmitting video information, the power amplifier module delivers 50 W continuous output power from 2.2 to 2.5 GHz and from 4.40 to 5.85 GHz with a -6-dBm input level. Developed for use with quadrature-amplitude-modulation (QAM) digital format, the amplifier module is rated for maximum input and output VSWR of 2.0:1. Second and third harmonics are typically -14 dBc. Spurious levels are less than -55 dBc. The amplifier is built to be stable under open and short conditions at all phase angles. It uses TTL control for PA enable and blanking functions. Maximum power consumption for the Class AB linear amplifier module is 250 W from a +28-VDC supply. The module measures 7.83 x 3.70 x 1.60 in. and weighs 2 lbs. It is equipped with SMA input and output connectors and designed for use at operating temperatures from -40 to +85°C.
