Amplifier Module Drives 6 To 18 GHz

May 7, 2013
This compact amplifier module provides better than 20 W output power with high gain from 6 to 18 GHz for broadband systems and measurement applications.

Model BME69189-20 is a solid-state amplifier module from Comtech PST with 20 W minimum output power and 25-W typical output power from 6 to 18 GHz. Based on proven gallium-nitride (GaN) power-transistor technology, the amplifier features at least 41-dB gain and typically 45-dB gain across the frequency range, with gain flatness of ±4 dB for 20-W output power into a 50-Ω load. The Class AB linear amplifier module is rated for maximum input VSWR of 2.0:1 and output load VSWR of 2.0:1 at full output power. Second harmonics are better than -15 dBc while third harmonics are better than -25 dBc. Spurious levels are better than -60 dBc. The amplifier module undergoes open/short stability testing. It features built-in-test-equipment (BITE) circuitry and has a 5-V TTL enable/disable feature with better than 5-microsecond response time. The amplifier module, which is rated for operating temperatures from -40 to +55°C, measures 6.56 x 3.50 x 0.84 in. and weighs 5 lbs. It is designed for +28 VDC supply and draws less than 35 W power under standby conditions. It uses SMA female input and output connectors.
