Low-Noise VCO Tunes 1 to 2 GHz

July 25, 2014
This compact voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) covers 1 to 2 GHz with low noise and high linearity.

Model CVCO55BE-1000-2000 is a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) with tuning range from 1000 to 2000 MHz. It tunes via control voltages from +1 to +20 VDC and provides typical output power of +5.5 dBm across the frequency range. The source achieves low single-sideband phase noise of typically -95 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from the carrier, with second-harmonic suppression of typically -10 dBc. Housed in an industry-standard 0.5 × 0.5 in. SMD package, the VCO minimizes pulling and pushing to 7.5 MHz and 2.5 MHz/V, respectively. The low-noise oscillator, which consumes typically 25 mA current from a +10-VDC supply, is designed for operating temperatures from -40 to +80°C.
