VCO Tunes At 6 GHz

May 15, 2013
A 6-GHz VCO provides clean spectral purity and stability in a compact surface-mount housing.

Designed for operation at 6000 MHz, model CVCO33BE-6000-6000 is a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) from Crystek Corp. with control voltage range of 0.5 to 4.5 V. It delivers +5-dBm typical output power at 6 GHz, with typical phase noise of -85 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from the carrier. Second-harmonic levels are typically -20 dBc. The oscillator draws maximum current of 40 mA from a +5-VDC supply. Pulling and pushing are minimized to 8.0 MHz and 5.0 MHz/V, respectively. The VCO, which is well suited for applications in digital radios and satellite-communications (satcom) equipment, is supplied in a surface-mount package measuring just 0.5 x 0.5 in.
