Avago Technologies has announced the availability of 1- and 2-W families of linear power amplifiers for next-generation cellular and WiMAX infrastructure applications. The amplifiers feature built-in active bias circuitry and require no external RF matching components. They are supplied in miniature 22-pin molded chip-on-board packages measuring 5.0 x 6.0 x 1.1 mm. As examples, model ALM-31122 delivers +31.6 dBm output power at +5 VDC and 400 mA with 15.6-dB gain and +47.6-dBm third-order intercept at 900 MHz. Model ALM-31222 offers +31.5 dBm output power at 2 GHz with 14.9-dB gain and model ALM-31322 provides +31-dBm output power at 1-dB compression and 13.2-dB gain at 3.5 GHz. The 2-W amplifiers, which include model ALM-32220 designed for use from 1.7 to 2.7 GHz and model ALM-32320 which is optimized for use 3.3 to 3.9 GHz, provide +34.4 dBm output power at 1-dB compression with more than 14-dB gain. Prices start at $3.75 in 1000 quantity for the 1-W units and $7.19 in 100 quantity for the 2-W amplifiers.
