M/A-COM has announced the model MAAP-007649-000100 power amplifier for applications from 800 to 1000 MHz. It drives 2 W output power over that frequency range and provides optimum performance for radio-frequency-identification (RFID) reader applications with flat gain response and better than 1 W Dense Reader Mode (DRM) spectral mask linearity. Based on high-breakdown-voltage GaAs HBT devices, the amplifier provides 19-dB gain at 900 MHz with +34 dB output power at 1-dB compression and an output third-order intercept point of +49 dBm The amplifier, which is suitable for cellular applications, requires a single +7.5-VDC supply in addition to a +4.5-VDC reference voltage for power-down and power-control capabilities. The amplifier is RoHS compliant and available in a 16-lead, 4-mm PQFN surface-mount package. The amplifier is available from stock and priced at $4.94 each in 10,000 qty.
