To give avionics manufacturers continual weight reductions, streamlined maintenance procedures, and aerodynamic efficiency, a next-generation version of the ARINC 600 receptacle connector has been developed. From -65 to +125C, it offers a minimum dielectric withstanding voltage (DWV) of 1500 VAC root mean square (RMS) at 60 Hz and sea level versus 500 VAC RMS at 60 Hz and 50,000 ft. The connector provides at least 100 MΩ of insulation resistance. For contact resistance, mated pairs have been tested per MIL-STD-1344, Method 3004-1. In addition to being lighter than its predecessors, the connector provides cost savings by utilizing a stamped and formed contact system versus the traditional screw-machined contact system. Instead of the whole contact, the stamped system allows only the critical socket contact tines to be plated with gold.
