Blind-mate connectors simplify RF signal interfaces between devices or units that may not be in linear alignment. While standard blind-mate connectors are available, applications with diverse mechanical or electrical properties usually require a custom design. To offer custom blind-mate connectors for specific applications, one general design features a non-threaded push-on connector interface for touch-less mating. One end of the pair provides a floating, spring-mounted body that moves independently of the flange mount to ensure reliable electrical contacteven with some mechanical misalignment. Custom blind-mate connectors can be designed and fabricated to 40 GHz using a variety of materials and mechanical mounting techniques. For example, a blind-mate pair can have bodies manufactured from stainless steel and female contacts from beryllium copper.
