Data-Bus Connector Targets Satcom

A new Micro Bus Floating (MBF) connector has been designed for computer data-bus applications in satellite communications. The 40-position, 1.27-mm-pitch MBF connector has a mated height of 8 mm. Its double contact design increases contact reliability while the floating metal spring on the housing provides a cushioning effect. In doing so, it ensures contact accuracy between the connector and pc-board frame. The MBF connector can stack two to 12 printed-circuit-board (PCB) frames. It is guaranteed to 1000 mating cycles while standard elastomeric connectors can typically only be used once.
