Amplifiers Reach 20 GHz At Cryogenic Temperatures

With 21 different models, a new amplifier series covers 1 to 20 GHz over operating temperatures ranging from cryogenic to +100C. Each model in the AOX amplifier series offers one or more octaves of bandwidth. In addition, all of the models typically provide gain in the region of 26 to 28 dB with guaranteed minimums of 22 to 25 dB. For certain bands, variations of gain with frequency are better than 0.75 dB. The AOX amplifiers typically deliver +13 dBm of output power at the 1-dB gain compression point. They offer third-order intercept points to +28 dBm with an input/ output voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 2.0:1/2.3:1. At 6 GHz and +25C, the amplifiers feature a noise figure of 3 dB. That noise level drops to roughly 0.5 dB at temperatures of 4 K. Housings for all of the amplifiers are 31.5 x 27.5 x 10.0 mm in aluminum alloy with alochrom 1200 finish. Input/output ports are equipped with SMA female, stainless-steel RF connectors. The DC supply, which can be as low as 5 V and 150 mA, is applied via a filtered connector and ground post.
