Broadband Amp Lights Up FTTH

The upgraded version of the model ACA2604 RF amplifier from ANADIGICS is designed for use in broadband fiber-to-coax equipment, such as for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and fiber-to-the-building (FTTB) applications. It operates from 50 to 1000 MHz with equivalent input noise of 4.5 pA/(Hz)0.5 and also features 24 dB typical gain and a 22-dB gain-adjustment range. The amplifier has an input impedance of 500 Ohms and is supplied in a RoHS-compliant 5 x 5 x 1 mm surface-mount package for use with a single +5-VDC supply. The amplifier does not require a transformer for the interface to a photodiode.

According to Joe Cozzarelli, Senior Director for ANADIGICS' Broadband RF Product Line, "Delivering 1 GHz performance from the ACA2604 is a significant milestone in our efforts to ensure that broadband service providers have the components necessary to provide the highest performance networks. As the industry continues to evolve and equipment performance requirements increase, we'll continue to push the limits of innovation to keep our customers ahead of the broadband demand curve." The upgraded ACA2604 amplifier offers high linearity, with typical composite-triple-beat (CTB) specification of -65 dBc.
