Capacitors Feature Novel Termination

AVX Corp. has developed a new termination style for its TLN and TCN series tantalum capacitors that reduces required space by as much as 60 percent. Ideal for circuits requiring high-valued capacitors in tight places, the capacitors are available with values from 22 to 680 microfarads. The smallest of the capacitors measure just 1 mm in height.

According to AVX Applications Manager Chris Reynolds, "The new undertab termination design significantly reduces the footprint on the PCB, while increasing performing characteristics. The reduction in size and space makes the TLN and TCN series tantalum capacitors ideal for any application that requires component miniaturization." The capacitors are available for working voltages from 4 to 10 V.
