Compact Couplers Aim At Defense Applications

Anaren has announced the addition of three new Xinger couplers for defense applications, such as military radios. The models XC0600-B-03P, XC4300-E-03P, and XC4300-A-20P operate over frequency bands of 225 to 1000 MHz, 2500 to 6000 MHz, and 2500 to 6000 MHz, respectively, with power-handling capabilities of 75, 100, and 100 W, respectively. The first two are 3-dB hybrids while the third is a 20-dB directional coupler. The coupler models measure 0.50 x 1.00 x 0.220 in., 0,20 x 0.56 x 0.089 in., and 0.35 x 0.56 x 0.065 in., respectively, with insertion loss of 0.70 dB, 0.25 dB, and 0.2 dB, respectively, and isolation of 17 dB, 21 dB, and 18 dB, respectively.

According to Mark Kosalek, Business Development Manager for Anaren's Space & Defense Group, "Our customers have expressed a desire for functional consolidation into wider bandwidth assemblies in order to lower material costs and reduce channel counts. These wideband solutions respond to that need, providing the required frequency-band flexibility in a single component." Kosalek added that "the solution helps to lower customers' material costs, while achieving board space and weight savings, all of which are increasingly important parameters for defense application designers."
