High-power single- and dual-directional couplers are ideal for sampling forward and reflected power to 8 GHz. These 50-Ohm devices promise to have a negligible effect on signal transmission characteristics and very-low-intermodulation products. Model CHP-1040, for example, covers 1 to 4 GHz. It exhibits insertion loss of 0.15 dB or less with primary port VSWR of 1.20:1 or less and secondary port VSWR of 1.30:1 or less. This coupler boasts at least 23 dB directivity. Its sibling, the model CHP-2080, covers 2 to 8 GHz while providing a minimum of 21 dB directivity. This unit exhibits insertion loss of 0.20 dB or less with primary port VSWR of 1.25:1 or less and secondary port VSWR of 1.30:1 or less. The third member of the family, model CHP-3012, covers 3 to 12 GHz. It exhibits insertion loss of 0.25 dB or less with primary and secondary port VSWR of 1.30:1 or less. Directivity for this unit is at least 18 dB. The standard units are optimized for two-octave bandwidths and are available with 30-, 40-, or 50-dB nominal coupling.
