Arcadian Networks, a wireless carrier for energy companies, has entered into a business partnership with FreeWave Technologies to improve its existing wireless communications capabilities. The wireless carrier will make use of FreeWave's spread-spectrum Industrial-Scientific-Medical (ISM) band radio technology on a 700-MHz private, licensed, and secure communication platform. As part of the agreement, Arcadian Networks will market, sell, and distribute FreeWave's 700-MHz products, providing electric utilities and oil and gas companies' greater equipment diversity and flexible bandwidth and deployment options.

According to Ed Solar, chief executive officer of Arcadian Networks, "Arcadian Networks currently offers customers a robust wireless broadband platform, which combines the privacy and security of our licensed 700-MHz spectrum with state-of-the-art voice and data-networking equipment. Our relationship with FreeWave is a significant advancement in our overall product and service portfolio and we welcome them to our network." Colin Lippincott, vice-president of Sales and Marketing for FreeWave Technologies, added, "Our radios are a natural fit for Arcadian Networks' integrated wireless communications solution. We believe that by integrating our product suite into a communications network that offers cost-effective and unique propagation characteristics, we can achieve far-reaching opportunities for superior wireless communications and automation across a number of our most critical industries."
