Frequency Divider Works To 2 GHz

The HMC794LP3E frequency divider from Hittite Microwave provides four hardware-selectable, integer divider settings (1, 2, 3, and 4) for input signals to 2 GHz. The silicon germanium (SiGe) BiCMOS device, which operates from a +5-VDC supply, achieves typical phase noise (for a 2-GHz input signal) of less than -160 dBc/Hz offset 100 kHz from the carrier, with a noise floor of -166 dBc/Hz. It provides consistent output power regardless of divider setting, signal frequency, temperature, and supply voltage. The frequency divider, which is supplied in a 3 x 3 mm leadless surface-mount quad flatpack housing, incorporates a power down feature, good input-output isolation, external output power adjustment. and 50-percent output duty cycle.
