EM Research, Inc. has introduced the model HFS-2150, a frequency synthesizer designed for very-small-aperture-terminal (VSAT) satellite-communications applications from 950 to 2150 MHz. The synthesizer achieves frequency switching speeds of better than 5 ms with low spurious emissions of -80 dBc or better. The phase noise is less than -110 dBc/Hz offset 100 kHz from the carrier. The frequency synthesizer measures just 1.25 x 1.00 x 0.24 in. (31.8 x 25.4 x 6.4 mm) and draws 90 mA current from a +5-VDC supply.
