The RFFC207x and RFFC507x product families from RF Micro Devices are integrated components that can be configured for multiple markets by keeping broadband local oscillator (LO) signal paths on chip. The RFFC207x series has an LO range from 85 to 2700 MHz, with an on-chip mixer capable of handling 30 to 2700 MHz. The RFFC507x series has an LO range of 85 to 4500 MHz with mixer range of 30 to 6000 MHz. The devices boast integrated phase noise of 0.18 deg. root mean square (RMS) at 1 GHz. They feature an integrated fractional-N with advanced sigma-delta modulator. All of the components can be programmed through a simple 3-wire serial interface. In addition, as many as four devices can be controlled from a common serial bus. The integrated configurable components are suitable for a wide range of applications, including in superheterodyne radios, repeaters, commercial and military software-defined radios (SDRs), point-to-point radios, and satellite-communications (satcom) systems. They measure just 5 x 5 mm and draw just 125 mA from a +3-VDC supply.
