Low-VSWR Cables Link DC To 20 GHz

Coaxial-cable-assembly supplier Electronic Assembly Manufacturing (EAM) has announced the availability of low-loss, low-VSWR cable assemblies based on T-Flex cable from Times Microwave Systems. Suitable for applications through 20 GHz, these 50 Ohm flexible cable assemblies meet all MIL-C-17 requirements. They feature excellent corrosion resistance with stable attenuation and phase characteristics over time, and shielding effectiveness (SE) comparable to semi-rigid cables. Typical performance for a three-foot long 0.141-in.-diameter cable assembly terminated with SMA male connectors is VSWR of 1.35:1 from 45 MHz to 18 GHz. Other flexible cable assembly options include outside diameters of 0.104 (T-Flex 405), 0.160 (T-Flex 402), and 0.270 in. (T-Flex 401), which can be terminated with the same coaxial connectors found on semi-rigid cables, including SMA, BNC, 7/16, SMP, and TNC connectors.
