Nucomm Recognized For Broadcast Advance

Nucomm has just been awarded Patent Number US 7,359,450 for "Digital Transmission of Broadcast Signals, including HDTV signals, over a Microwave Analog Link." The patent covers development of the company's Analog Coder product line, which allows digital signals, including for high-definition (HD) television, to be transmitted over an existing conventional analog microwave link at data rates as high as 30 Mb/s along with several analog audio subcarriers.

Nucomm's CEO, Dr. John Payne, notes: "This newly patented method is another example of Nucomm's mission to develop affordable solutions for today's broadcasters. Prior to our newly patented concept, television stations and other providers were left with no choice but to replace their analog microwave links with digital microwave ones at considerable expense. With our new Analog Coder strategy, which consists of two 1RU boxes, one box can be placed at the transmitter end while the second box can be based at the receiver end of the link, eliminating the need for replacement."
