PA Delivers 30 W From 2500 To 2700 MHz

Micro-Precision Technologies has introduced its model MPT2527PA30 power amplifier for WiMAX, MMDS, and other applications from 2500 to 2700 MHz. In spite of being in a package measuring just 2.00 x 3.48 x 0.65 in., it delivers 30 W typical output power over its 200-MHz bandwidth, with typical efficiency of 30 percent and typical gain of 27 dB. The RoHS-compliant surface-mount amplifier features typical input return loss of 10 dB and typical output return loss of 15 dB. It operates from a +28-VDC supply with 800 mA quiescent current and uses +5 VDC as an enable control. With 0 V on the enable line, the amplifier pinches off its internal field-effect transistors (FETs) to eliminate transmitter noise during a system's receive interval. The amplifier is supplied on a copper carrier that mounts with four screws for good thermal control.
