RF Connector System Supports WiFi And WiMAX

A new low-loss connector represents a cost-effective alternative to standard screw machine connectors for most cable-to-cable and cable-to-PC-board applications through 6 GHz. The new connector family offers a range of configuration options including cable plugs terminated to RG 174 and RG 316 cable types and cable assemblies terminated in IP 67 weatherproof housings. The 50-Ohm connectors cover DC to 6 GHz. Voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) is a maximum of 1.30:1 from DC to 3 GHz and 1.45:1 from 3 to 6 GHz. The connectors exhibit maximum insertion loss of 0.30 dB from DC to 3 GHz and 0.40 dB from 3 to 6 GHz. Rated at 60 VAC (rms), the connectors hold center contact and outer contact resistance to 20 milliohms. Although these connectors hail from Tyco Electronics, they are just two of the plethora of products available from Digi-Key. Digi-Key also offers products from Analog Devices, Murata, STMicroelectronics, Atmel, Linear Technology, Panasonic, Texas Instruments, and Microchip.
