In these still-uncertain economic times, it has become increasingly sensible for companies to diversify their product offerings. Teledyne Technologies, for example, provides the following: digital imaging products and software; instrumentation; aerospace and defense electronics; and engineered systems. To deepen both the diversity of its offerings and its customer focus, the company also has consolidated its microwave businesses into a single organization.

Incorporating nine manufacturing sites, the new business—known as Teledyne Microwave Solutions—is engaged in the research, design, development, and manufacturing of products from RF through 220 GHz. The organization’s products encompass polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composite microwave packaging and contract manufacturing. It offers a range of microwave components including amplifiers, TWTs, BAWs, YIGs, VCOs, filters, RF switches, isolators, circulators, and mixers. In addition, Teledyne Microwave Solutions provides integrated products, such as receivers, transmitters, transceivers, high-power amplifiers, satellite-communication systems, and portable IED/EW threat systems.

According to the company, the goal of this consolidation is to integrate sales and marketing. It will now present a more unified solution to customers while expanding the firm’s R&D organization to promote scientific innovation and customer collaboration. This step is a continuation of Teledyne’s strategy to build on organic and acquired businesses that serve differentiated, technology-oriented markets.
