Test System Tackles Wireless Standards

The 7000 series vector analyzer generator (VAG) from Aeroflex is actually an integrated system that combines functions of signal generators and analyzers to perform parametric testing on wireless components and subsystems. It has a frequency range of 1 MHz to 6 GHz, with 90-MHz bandwidth for both signal generation and analysis.

The software-defined VAG features a touch-screen user interface for ease of use. According to Bill Burrows, Business Development Manager at Aeroflex, "The 7000 series offers the most complete and easy-to-use test system for RF test available today. It is the only test platform on the market that can incorporate two independent signal generators and a vector network analyzer in a single box." Both the built-in signal generator and optional second generator have a typical phase noise level of 115 dBc/Hz offset 20 kHz from a 2-GHz carrier. The vector signal generator includes a library of standard waveforms emulating all the popular cellular wireless standards.
