Tunable Oscillator Shaves Phase Noise At 2905 MHz

Model CRO2905A-LF is a single-frequency voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO)from Z-Communications, Inc., designed for use at 2905 MHz. It features low phase noise of -114 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from the carrier with typical second harmonics of -20 dBc. The VCO delivers +6.5 dBm output power when running on a +5-VDC supply with +/-2.5-dB output-power flatness. It tunes with voltages of 0.5 to 4.5 V and average tuning sensitivity of 13 MHz/V. Its frequency pushing is less than 1 MHz/V and frequency pulling is less than 1 MHz into a 14-dB return-loss load. The compact oscillator, which is suitable for satellite communications systems, is supplied in a housing measuring just 0.500 x 0.500 x 0.035 in.
