Crystek Corp. has created a low-noise voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) for applications from 2425 to 2440 MHz. Model CVCO55CC-2425-2440 operates from control voltages of 0.3 to 4.7 V with frequency pulling of 1 MHz and frequency pushing of only 0.50 MHz/V. The single-sideband (SSB) phase noise is -113 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from the carrier. The VCO achieves second-harmonic suppression of typically -20 dBc. The VCO is supplied in a 0.5 x 0.5 in. surface-mount package and draws 40 mA current from a +5-VDC supply. The CVCO55CC-2425-2440 is ideal for use in applications such as digital radio equipment, fixed wireless access, satellite communications systems, and cellular communications base stations.
