Wireless Module Tackles Audio Applications

The latest member of the Anaren Integrated Radio (AIR) module series from Anaren loads a 2.4-GHz wireless audio system-on-chip (SoC) device, and range extender, and antenna into a single small module package. The FCC-certified model A8520E24A module is ideal for audio applications requiring 44.1 or 48-kHz, 16-b CD-quality audio to be transferred wirelessly. The module makes use of Texas Instruments' PurePath SoC to handle uncompressed audio. It operates over the wireless range from 2400.0 to 2483.5 MHz.

"After seeing how easy our other AIR modules are to implement, we had several OEMs in the audio space approach us to develop an analogous module for TI's CC8520 PurePath chip," says Mark Bowyer, Business Development Manager for AIR with Anaren's Wireless Group. "Like other members of the AIR family, is pre-certified by the FCC for substantially reduced development, testing, and certification costs if the unit is used as specified." The AIR modules measure 9 x 12 x 2.5 mm or 9 x 16 x 2.5 mm depending on frequency (other frequencies include 902 to 928 MHz and 868 MHz).
