Phonon Corporation Expands Capacity

In a year of economic turmoil, Phonon Corp. announced that it had broken ground for construction of a 15,000-square-foot addition to its manufacturing facilities, in support of future revenue growth. The privately held company manufactures and markets a broad range of signal processing products for defense and satellite markets including the emerging Homeland Security initiatives for communications, surveillance, and information-gathering applications based on its expertise in surface-acoustic-wave (SAW) technology. According to Dr. Tom Martin, Phonon's President and Founder, "the expansion provides Phonon Corporation the opportunity to double its revenue base from its current level of $15 million over the next five years based on the future outlook for defense/space electronic expenditures and the increased use of advanced electronic intelligence systems to combat the threat of terrorism."
