Delay Lines Help Testing Radars

Aug. 8, 2012

A pair of delay lines from Eastern OptX (EOX), fixed model E-501 and variable model E-3001, provides bench top capability of replicating radar ranges for evaluating different components used in radar systems. According to Joe Mazzochette, the company’s General Manager, “Using EOX delay lines can reduce or eliminate outdoor target range testing. Field testing is expensive and unpredictable. We offer repeatability in both distance and amplitude measurements which are critical parameters for radar and communications testing.” The model E-501 fixed delay line is available with delay times to 100 μs from 100 MHz to 6 GHz. The model E-3001 variable delay line also operates from 0.1 to 6.0 GHz with standard delays to 100 μs and longer delays available upon request. Both feature dynamic range of greater than 100 dB. Prices start at $15,000 for the E-501 and $30,000 for the E-3001.
