Digitally Tuned Source Hits 18 GHz

Ideal for rugged military environments, model DTO-218-CD-1 is a digitally tuned oscillator (DTO) from Planar Monolithics that operates from 2 to 18 GHz with low drift and high spectral purity. Designed for +28-VDC supplies, it features fast settling time of 1 μs to settle within ±3 MHz of a final tuned frequency and at least ±2 MHz frequency accuracy at room temperature (+25°C). Frequency drift has been minimized to a mere ±0.1 MHz/°C.

The oscillator exhibits maximum pulling of ±1 MHz into a 2.0:1 VSWR and worst-case pushing of ±500 kHz/V. It supports a minimum modulation bandwidth range of DC to 9 MHz with at least +10 dBm output power and phase noise of -60 dBc/Hz offset 100 kHz from the carrier. Maximum harmonics are -20 dBc while maximum nonharmonic spurious content is -55 dBc. The DTO, which is characterized for an operating temperature range of -40 to +70°C, measures 6.22 x 5.97 x 2.00 in. and works with a nominal linearized frequency tuning step of 0.5 MHz.
