Signal Generator Tracks To 6 GHz

May 13, 2014
This tracking-signal generator can be operated as a stand-alone test tool, and is designed to work with a 10-MHz reference source.

The TG6000 is a low-cost signal generator ideal for use with portable spectrum analyzers through 6 GHz.

With a frequency range extending beyond 6 GHz, Model TG6000 is a tracking-signal generator that can be used without a PC as a stand-alone test tool. It delivers 7-dBm output power across the frequency range, with typical
output-power flatness of ±2 dB, and a dynamic output-power range of better than 80 dB (see photo). It tunes in steps from 0.5 to 4.0 kHz and is designed to work with a 10-MHz reference source at power level from –20 to 15 dBm.

The TG6000 signal generator works with 5.2-Vdc maximum voltage through its USB connection. The signal source is supplied with a software application that allows an operator to set the frequency and power level, with standard frequency range of 32 MHz to 4.4 GHz and optional
coverage from 24 MHz to 6 GHz and beyond. The rear-panel USB port supports standard SCPI commands for frequency and output levels.
