Limiter Polices Power To 8 GHz

Sept. 26, 2012
Limiters help control power levels within a system, protecting sensitive components (like receivers) from sudden surges in signal level. The model LM-2G8G-13-5W-SFF limiter from Planar Monolithics Industries provides that type of protection over a broad frequency range from 2 to 8 GHz.

Limiters help control power levels within a system, protecting sensitive components (like receivers) from sudden surges in signal level. The model LM-2G8G-13-5W-SFF limiter from Planar Monolithics Industries provides that type of protection over a broad frequency range from 2 to 8 GHz. The high-power limiter can handle as much as 5 W continuous-wave (CW) input levels with insertion loss of typically only 1 dB for an input signal of -20 dBm. The maximum VSWR is 2.0:1 while maximum leakage is +13 dBm. The compact component features 40 ns recovery time. The limiter, which measures only 1.0 x 1.0 x 0.4 in., is supplied with SMA female connectors.
