A portable signal generator has debuted for a variety of applications over the 1-to-2-GHz range. Dubbed the LMPL-SG-2000, it offers 100 kHz resolution. The signal generator delivers +7 dBm of output power (3 dB). Harmonic and spurious outputs are 15 and 60 dBc, respectively. With an internal reference, the LMPL-SG-2000 boasts stability of 1 ppm and SSB phase noise of 75 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz. The generator, which settles in less than 10 ms, flaunts programmable amplitude control in the 31-dB range with 6-b resolution. The LMPL-SG-2000 also provides a divide-by-two auxiliary output, output disable, an internal or external reference with automatic detection, and eight programmable, manually operated frequencies. It measures 6.5 x 4.3 x 1.2 in.
