AR Modular RF introduced their model KMS2010 solid-state amplifier module at IMS 2010 this week. It delivers +52 dBm (150 W) linear output power (at 1-dB compression) from 1.75 to 1.85 GHz with scalable gain of 57 dB. It is designed to handle complex modulated communications signals, including orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplex (OFDM) signals. The module comprises a printed circuit board housed in a machine aluminum enclosure. The amplifier is protected from thermal overload, over-power, over-voltage or wrong voltage polarity as well as having an internal isolator. Gain remains flat within 1 dB. Harmonic distortion is better than -60 dBc at +50 dBm output power, while intermodulation distortion is controlled to 2-percent error-vector-magnitude (EVM) performance. The amplifier module runs on a +28-VDC, 12-A supply.
