The 39th European Microwave Conference (EuMC) is being staged in the eternal city of Rome, Italy. It is the largest event in Europe dedicated to microwave electronics. Microwaves and RF magazine was at the event with European Editor Paul Whytock filing video reports focusing on some of the latest technology on display.

For those who wonder how Rome gained its title of "The Eternal City," the explanation is that it has been the country's capital city and seat of power for the past 2500 years. Rome was hugely advanced in many things compared to its European neighbours. For example, it was building the magnificent Coliseum while many European nations were still trying to figure out mud-hut construction. With this intellectual and technical heritage, it's appropriate that Rome hosts this year's EuMW. The show will feature some of the latest advances in the following areas: microwave and opto-electronic devices and circuits; packaging and interconnects; antennas, propagation, and EMI; radar, sensors, and wireless technologies; measurement and instrumentation; and telecommunication, transportation, and medical systems.
