Three new multithrow switches from JFW Industries provide outstanding electrical performance from 0.5 to 18 GHz, low loss, high isolation, and fast switching speed. Model 50S-1720 is a single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) unit with typical insertion loss of 1.5 dB through 8 GHz and no worse than 2.8 dB through 18 GHz. Isolation is typically 80 dB through 8 GHz and at least 50 dB through 18 GHz. The typical VSWR is 1.40:1 through 4 GHz and no worse than 1.90:1 through 18 GHz. Switching speed is 100 ns or less and typically only 50 ns.

The switch draws 80 mA at +5 VDC and 80 mA at -12 VDC. Model 50S-1721 is a single-pole, four-throw (SP4T) design with 1.40:1 typical VSWR to 4 GHz and 2.00:1 maximum VSWR to 18 GHz. The insertion loss is typically 2.0 dB to 8 GHz and no worse than 3.8 dB to 18 GHz. The isolation is 85 dB to 8 GHz and at least 60 dB to 18 GHz. The switching speed is 200 ns or better, with typical performance of 100 ns. The SP4T switch draws 200 mA at +5 VDC and 100 mA at -5 VDC.

Model 50S-1722 is a single-pole, eight-throw (SP8T) switch with typical VSWR of 1.50:1 to 4 GHz and better than 2.20:1 to 18 GHz. The typical insertion loss is 3.0 dB to 8 GHz and no worse than 5.0 dB to 18 GHz. The isolation is typically 90 dB to 8 GHz and better than 60 dB to 18 GHz. The switching speed is a maximum of 200 ns and typically 100 ns. The SP8T switch draws 400 mA at +5 VDC and 100 mA at -5 VDC. All three models are 50-Ω self-terminating designs that handle input power levels to +20 dBm and operating temperatures from 0 to +70°C. They include SMA female connectors and TTL control as standard features, although other versions can also be supplied.
