Aiming at applications requiring extremely low phase noise, such as testing radar systems and wireless communications networks, the Agilent E8663B RF/microwave signal generator provides extremely low phase noise in two versions covering 100 kHz to 3.2 GHz and 100 kHz to 9 GHz. The Agilent E8663B is fully synthesized, with output signals stabilized to an internal oven-controlled crystal oscillator with ageing rate of better than 2.5 x 1010/day after 30 days. The residual phase noise that is typically 89 dBc/Hz or better offset 1 Hz from a 1-GHz carrier signal. For the 1-GHz carrier, the phase noise is typically 107 dBc/Hz offset 10 Hz from the carrier, -119 dBc/Hz offset 100 Hz from the carrier, -126 dBc/Hz offset 1 kHz from the carrier, -134 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from the carrier. Nonharmonic spurious levels are typically 70 dBc or better at all frequencies.
