Lack of skilled labor is having an impact on the adoption rate of radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology, according to research results from the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). The third annual RFID survey found that 68.8 percent of respondents believe there is an insufficient pool of RFID talent for hire. This compares to 75 percent of the respondents who answered that way in 2006 and 80 percent in the 2005 survey. Dave Sommer, Vice President of e-Business and Software Solutions from CompTIA, advises that the relatively slow adoption rate for RFID lessened the impact that the shortage of skills has had on the industry, but that this shortage will continue to affect further implementation of RFID technology.
