HF MLCCs, Thin-Film Components Lead the Way for Vishay at IMS2015

May 18, 2015
Vishay Intertechnology will exhibit multiple product innovations at IMS2015, including high-frequency MLCCs, thin-film capacitors and resistors, and customized substrates.

An array of product innovations from Vishay Intertechnology will be on display at the IEEE MTT International Microwave Symposium (IMS2015) this week. QUAD high-frequency (HF), high-power multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs) developed by Vishay Vitramon offer a Q of greater than 2000, equivalent series resistance (ESR) down to 0.01 Ω, and 200- to 700-V voltage ratings. Also on display will be surface-mount, high-frequency MLCCs that help reduce signal loss and power consumption in communications apps such as VoIP networks, cellular base stations, and wireless comm (Wi-Fi, WiMAX). Precision thin-film resistor chips and networks from Vishay Dale Thin Film offer HF response to 40 GHz, power ratings to 22 W, 5-ppm/°C temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR), operating temperatures to +250°C, and epoxy-bondable terminations.

Vishay Dale Electro-Films (EFI) will exhibit surface-mount, thin-film RF capacitors that maintain a low dc resistance (DCR) and high Q for impedance matching. These include compact thin-film resistors for amplifiers, oscillators, and attenuators, and low-inductance, thin-film RF spiral inductors for RF tuning circuits and lumped element filters. In addition the company will show custom substrates with sidewall patterning (plate thickness of ≤ 0.025 in. and a minimum gap of 0.003 in.), as well as 50-Ω micro-strip transmission lines.
