Aeroflex Joins LXI Consortium

The recently formed LXI Consortium has announced a new member: Aeroflex (Plainview, NY). Aeroflex expands the number of test and measurement companies already supporting the development of the LAN extensions for instrumentation (LXI) standard for automated testing. LXI combines built-in measurement science and personal-computer-like input/output (I/O) connectivity from rack-and-stack instruments with the flexibility and size reduction of module/card-based systems. The LXI standard provides a basis for long life-cycle instrumentation implementations that are not limited by bandwidth, software or computer-dependent architectures. According to Bob Vogel, Vice-President of Marketing for Aeroflex, "We believe very strongly in the Aeroflex synthetic systems architecture and taking a modular and platform-independent approach to evolving system test solutions for the wireless communications market. We are excited to join the consortium and look forward to contributing to the development of the LXI standard." The consortium includes leading suppliers of electronic test equipment, including Agilent Technologies (Palo Alto, CA) and Keithley Instruments (Cleveland, OH).
