Software Facilitates Filter Synthesis

TARGETING THE SMART-GRID MARKET, a new wireless subsystem can be easily integrated into applications like electric meters, industrial machinery, home appliances, and thermostats. Dubbed the SyNode 3020 (SN3020), this smart-energy embedded wireless module is fully ZigBee compliant. It supports both the Smart Energy and Home Automation profiles. The SN3020 integrates a ZigBee system-on-a-chip (SoC) transceiver, power amplifier (PA), and lownoise amplifier (LNA). It boasts +20 dBm output power and -103 dBm receiver sensitivity. The module also includes 512 kB of serial Flash memory for Smart Energy data logging. The SN3020 measures 420 mm2 (0.65 in.2). It is priced between $14 and $28 in low volumes.
