Tester Assists Public Safety System Installation

April 28, 2014
A portable solution has been developed for land-mobile-radio (LMR) testing.

Installation and maintenance of public safety systems has become a little simpler with the introduction of the model LMR Master S412E tester from Anritsu Co. Suitable for Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system testing, it combines a receiver, spectrum analyzer, vector network analyzer (VNA), and signal generator for testing wireless bands as high as 6 GHz (with an option). The tester is built on the same proven hardware platform as the firm’s popular Site Master line of portable testers. The portable test system enables analysis and testing of narrowband frequency-modulated (FM) radio systems, with optional support for digital LMR standards, including P25, P25 Phase 2, and ITC-R Positive Train Control (PTC) systems.

The VNA operates from 500 kHz to 1600 MHz, and can be extended to 6 GHz as an option. It features better than 100-dB dynamic range and can perform measurements in both the frequency and time domains. The VNA can show 2 to 4001 data points on screen and execute sweep speeds to 850 μs/point. The signal generator offers adjustable power levels from -130 to 0 dBm. The model LMR Master S412E tester is available with an optional Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver. The tester is supplied with data analysis software, carrying case, rechargeable battery, AC/DC power supply, +12-VDC automobile cigarette lighter adapter, and a user’s guide.
