TriQuint Semiconductor, RF semiconductor manufacturer and foundry services provider, announced the completion of its acquisition of WJ Communications Inc. WJ Communications supplies RF products for wireless infrastructures. The WJ acquisition expands TriQuint's base-station and networks product line. It also enhances the company's integrated RF module capability and adds a Silicon Valley design center.

WJ Communications' line of TD-SCDMA products includes multichip integrated modules. Industry researcher In-Stat projected in May 2007 that the TD-SCDMA market could reach 52 million subscribers by 2011.

Acquiring WJ Communications is another step toward TriQuint's aspiration to offer a complete RF front-end product line. In 2001, the company acquired SAWTEK for its surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter knowledge. Then in 2005 they purchased bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filter technology from TFR Technologies, and RF LDMOS and wideband RF transistor technologies from Peak Devices in 2007. The addition of WJ Communications' products completes the RF front-end portfolio for cellular base stations including next-generation technology like WCDMA, LTE, and emerging 3G standards.
