More Info on IAR Systems
Our journey started in 1983 in Uppsala, Sweden, with the engineer Anders Rundgren and his launch of the world’s first C compiler for the 8051 microcontroller architecture. "IAR" is an abbreviation of Ingenjörsfirman Anders Rundgren, which means Anders Rundgren Engineering Company. Today, you can find embedded software everywhere and thanks to that, over 150,000 developers are using our software.
Throughout the years, we have evolved and fine-tuned our technology to stay ahead of competition and always serve our customers in the best way we can. We have friends at all major suppliers in our industry, enabling great knowledge sharing and powerful technology innovation worldwide.
With 27 billion IoT connections in 2025, the world is facing major security challenges. To help customers solving these issues, IAR Systems acquired Secure Thingz in 2018. Secure Thingz is the global domain expert in device security, embedded systems, and lifecycle management.
IAR Systems has always been strong when it comes to helping our customers create high-quality code, and for several years we have delivered solutions to ensure functional safety in embedded systems. With Secure Thingz, we have security experts in our crew, further enforcing the dream of a connected world built with strong embedded technology that Anders had in 1983.
