The model RC1180-KNX1 RF module from Radiocrafts AS is designed for smart home and building automation applications. It complies with the open-standard Konnex over RF (KNX-RF) specifications for in-building wireless use based on the KNX protocol defined by the KNX Association. The module operates in the 868-MHz band and measures only 12.7 x 25.4 x 3.3 mm for ease of integration. It employs Listen Before Talk (LBT) signal monitoring to reduce collisions with other devices in the band (one receiver can be linked to as many as 64 transmitters). It offers automatic battery supervision and signal strength information.

According to Peder Martin Evjen, Managing Director of Radiocrafts, "By launching the compact KNX-RF module in the market, we have again demonstrated our technological leadership in embedded wireless solutions. KNX-RF is a green technology, enabling smart building automation systems that help to reduce energy consumption." Tom Sjolie, the firm's Sales and Marketing Director, adds that "The trend in building automation is to go wireless due to lower installation cost, ease of use and flexibility. Building equipment manufacturers and building management system integrators can now get a complete KNX-RF solution in a small compact module form-factor that is easy to integrate into any sensor or actuator, and that significantly reduce time-to-market, development and compliance testing cost."
