Lockheed Martin—Has been awarded a $68-million contract by the US Air Force in support of the first and second GPS III satellites. Lockheed Martin will provide mission readiness, launch, early orbit checkout, and on-orbit operations engineering support. In addition, the company has been awarded a Phase I Airborne Launch Assist Space Access (ALASA) program study contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The contract is valued at approximately $6.2 million.
General Dynamics—Has been awarded a contract to support the US Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) Tactical Communications Equipment and Services (TacCom) program. General Dynamics was one of five companies selected for each of six defined technical categories. The multiple-award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a potential value of $3 billion to all 30 awardees over five years, if all options are exercised.
Raytheon Co.—Has received a contract from the US Navy for the delivery of 47 additional Navy Multiband Terminal (NMT) systems. The order is valued at $79 million. In addition, the company has received a $19-million contract to modify the NMT, linking it with the US Air Force’s Enhanced Polar Satellite (EPS).
RELM Wireless Corp.—Has received orders totaling approximately $2 million from the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service (USFS) and the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC). The orders are for RELM’s D-Series digital P-25 portable and mobile radios, in addition to accessories.
Nordic Semiconductor—The company’s wireless technology is being used by Qingdao Haier Intelligent Electronics Co. in its QWERTY-keypad-equipped RF/infrared (IR) remote control. The remote is designed for use by consumer-electronics (CE) manufacturers of emerging “connected” products, such as smart TVs.
Ceragon Networks—Has signed a contract to supply high-capacity microwave solutions and turnkey services to the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA). The combined orders are worth approximately $4 million.
COM DEV—Has been awarded a $12-million follow-on contract by Boeing Satellite Systems. COM DEV will supply filters, switches, and ferrite components for use in NASA’s Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) program.
Giga-tronics—Has completed negotiations with an undisclosed aircraft supplier to continue delivery of its high-performance filters. The new contract totals more than $4.9 million if all options are exercised.
Frequency Electronics—The company’s FEI-Elcom Tech subsidiary has received an order for its broadband 18-GHz synthesizers from an undisclosed client. The total value of the contract is expected to exceed $4 million and is to be completed in less than 12 months.
