IMS 2012 Posts Strong Attendance Figures

July 11, 2012

Leading up to this year’s International Microwave Symposium (IMS), some had questioned whether holding the traditionally US-based show in Montreal, Canada would hurt its attendance. As it turned out, however, the show received very good attendance. According to event organizers, IMS 2012—held June 17 to 22 at Montreal’s Palais des Congrès—was visited by more than 7600 RF/microwave designers, researchers, developers, academics, executives, and exhibitor staff. The symposium also boasted strong international involvement, featuring representation from some 57 countries.

Leading the pack in attendees was the US (46%). Host country Canada occupied the runner-up spot with 17%. Of particular note was China, which posted a 200% increase in attendees over the previous year. More attendees also came from multiple European countries including Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and The Netherlands.

In total, IMS 2012 welcomed 569 exhibitors from 21 countries. Impressively, a record 1225 paper submissions were received from 49 different countries Of the 4118 symposium registrants, 2653 registered for the technical program with 1465 registering for the exhibits alone.

Next year, IMS will be making a return to the United States. The event is scheduled for June 2 to 7, 2013 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, WA. For more information, visit www.ims2013.org.
