Designed for applications in the 868/900-MHz Industrial-Scientific-Medical (ISM) band, model RFFM6904 is a single-chip front-end module (FEM) ideal for portable equipment. Based on GaAs HBT technology, the module contains a 2-W power amplifier, a transmit/receiver (T/R) transfer switch, a low-noise amplifier (LNA) with bypass mode, and impedance-matching components for optimum performance. It operates from a +5-VDC supply with 32-mA current consumption for the LNA and 1200-mA current consumption for the PA. The module delivers its rated performance at operating temperatures from -40 to +85°C. The PA provides +33.5 dBm output power at 1-dB compression with 30-dB typical gain from 02 to 928 MHz, while the LNA has typical noise figure of 1.3 dB and gain of 21 dB from 902 to 928 MHz. The T/R switch has 0.85-dB typical insertion loss from 902 to 928 MHz from its receive or transmit port to either of two antenna ports. The FEM is housed in a 32-pin, laminate package measuring 8.0 x 8.0 x 1.2 mm with backside ground.
